my system Operating System: Windows Vista™ Ultimate (6.0, Build 5384) (5384.winmain_beta2.060518-1455) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: NVIDIA System Model: AWRDACPI BIOS: Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+ Memory: 1022MB RAM Page File: 734MB used, 1577MB available Windows Dir: C:\Windows DirectX Version: DirectX 10 DX Setup Parameters: Not found DxDiag Version: 6.00.5384.0004 32bit Unicode i get the unknown device and when i click on details i get this ACPI\PNPB02F *PNPB02F
ive tried having it look for drivers on the motherboard disk with no luck any help would be great

That's your Joystick Gameport. If you also have a question mark corresponding to PNPB02F device, that's your MIDI port. Carlos

Drivers belong to the Realtek audio chipsets in the mobo. Realtek Web page is http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/dlac97-2.aspx?lineid=5&famid=12&series=8&Software=True Drivers are for x64 (not Vista). I would extract the driver (ftp://152.104.238.194/pc/ac97/alc650/WDM_A389.exe) to a folder and try to install only the joystick/midi drivers from the \WDM folder. Carlos

Driver package also includes 32-bit drivers. So, my workaround might just work. ;) Carlos

Didn't work for me either on x64. Will have to wait for Realtek to release Vista specific drivers. Carlos

I've had exactly the same problem. Unknown device "ACPI\PNPB02F *PNPB02F" and that new driver from Realtek didn't fix my problem. I actually messed up the audio, and I had to reinstall the audio drivers. I am running the 32-bit version of build 5384. Any more ideas on how to configure this game or midi port?

The beta driver may not support the game port, just the sound. A lot of beta drivers only support basic functionality. You should, however, file a bug report with the "expected result" being an installed driver for the port.
